Overview

An in-person intensive for engineering teams in the Gulf. Built around real regional case studies — a Riyadh underpass excavation, a Dubai tower pile-raft, crane loading on existing shoring — with time set aside on the final day to work through a model from your own project with the instructor. Smaller and more intensive than the online courses, and priced per participant.

What you will be able to do

  • Model the ground conditions you actually encounter in the region
  • Work through a model from your own live project with guidance
  • Apply 2D and 3D analysis to excavation, foundation and tunnelling problems
  • Build an internal modelling standard your team can follow

Course content

01

Days 1–2 — Core modelling

  • Regional ground conditions and parameter selection
  • Deep excavation and shoring design
  • Secant pile walls, soldier piles and anchored systems
  • Staged construction through the full build sequence
02

Day 3 — Foundations and interaction

  • Pile and pile-raft foundation design
  • Settlement and differential settlement
  • Impact on adjacent and existing structures
  • Regional case studies: Riyadh underpass, Dubai tower, crane loading on shoring
03

Days 4–5 — Extended programme (Dubai only)

  • 3D analysis end to end
  • Tunnelling and underpass modelling
  • Individual review of a model from your own project
  • Building an internal modelling standard

Who this is for

  • Engineering teams in Saudi Arabia and the UAE
  • Consultancies standardising their approach to numerical modelling
  • Engineers with a live project they want to work through

Prerequisites

  • Working knowledge of soil mechanics
  • Some prior PLAXIS exposure is helpful but not required
  • Optionally, a live project to work on during the final session
